This photo was taken at the ‘Voice and Vote’ Exhibition in 2018 in the Palace of Westminster – the heart of Parliament. It commemorated 100 years of women’s suffrage and the message was clear:
Voice and Vote for women were intrinsically linked.
The vote finally gave women a voice in Parliament: in the making of laws; the development of social and public policy; in how they were governed and by whom.
Women finally had an opportunity for their opinions, views and perspectives to count.
Anyone seeking election now had to listen to and consider the perspective of women in order to get their vote.
Our voice is so much more than the words we say – it reflects who we are and what we value. For more on this – see the 'Finding Your Voice' page.
